Tahini Maple Syrup Dressing
This Tahini Maple Syrup dressing is a gorgeous combination of a slightly bitter sesame-based product with some rich, sweet honey. The combination is simply explosive!
This is one of the yummiest tahini dressing recipes of all time. The sweetness of the maple syrup works incredibly well with the strong sesame flavours and helps to cut through the bitterness.
Whilst the people of the Middle East and North Africa have been consuming tahini for the longest time, it didn’t really make its mark in the mainstream world until recent times.
Tahini is made from toasted hulled white sesame seeds which is then grounded into a thick paste. The paste is mixed with oil to create a creamier texture.
Tahini has a savoury, slightly bitter, and nutty flavour profile with a thick creamy texture.
This plant-based condiment is a versatile ingredient as tahini can be used as a spread, form the base for dips, create creamy salad dressings, thicken stews as well an ice cream flavour!
We love using tahini in our creamy salad dressings because it is not only delicious but also provides a healthier alternative to condiments like mayonnaise and peanut butter.
Tahini is a great option for vegan and plant-based diets who don’t consume dairy. It’s even keto-friendly too!
For our Tahini Maple Syrup Dressing, we combine tahini, maple syrup and lemon juice together to form a thick paste. Slowly add water to create the consistency you require for the vegan salad dressing.
Perfect for hearty salads that include pearl couscous, freekeh or wild rice. The creamy sweet flavours will help lift grain salads and combine the ingredients together.
Also perfect to drizzle over roast vegetables like pumpkin, sweet potato, eggplant or carrots. We like to serve creamy dressings like this on the side so guests can choose how much they like to add.
Ingredients
These are the ingredients you need for tahini maple syrup dressing:
Tahini: Love this thick sesame based paste that has been around in the culinary world for the longest time. Get some hulled tahini as it won’t be as bitter as the unhulled tahini.
Try Baron’s or Soom Foods tahini. Super delicious!
Maple Syrup: Stir through some of this golden nectar through the dressing for the sweetness that it craves for.
I also chose maple syrup because I love the smell of this ingredient and how it balances the strong flavours of the tahini.
Lemon: Lemon will just help to round off the overall flavours of this dressing. A much needed tratness.
Water: Helps to dilute the dressing so that it can be worked through the salad. The lemon is not enough to bring it to the consistency we’re after.
Instructions
Step by step instructions for how to make tahini maple syrup dressing:
This is one of the yummiest tahini dressing recipes of all time. The sweetness of the maple syrup works incredibly well with the strong sesame flavours and helps to cut through the bitterness.
Add the tahini, maple syrup and the juice of half a lemon into a bowl.
In order to create the desired consistency, add one tsp of water, whisk and keep adding a tsp of water until you’re happy with it.
Some people like it quite thick whilst others prefer it a bit waterier. I have found the magic number is 6 tsp of water and it gives the dressing a creamy finish.
